Year 1 Billabong Sanctuary Visit

26/10/2011

Year 1’s recently visited Billabong Sanctuary to learn about Australian Animals.  1B, 1Y and 1M went on Wednesday the 26th of October and 1R, 1G and 1S went on Thursday the 27th of October.

We arrived about 9:30 and the Ranger gave us some information on a wombat named Tonka.  His mother was hit by a car and he when they looked in her pouch, he was found.  The Ranger also told us about a cockatoo, diamond python and a baby koala- did you know he is as just like a pink jelly bean when he is born?  We got to pat a baby crocodile as well- luckily his jaws were taped up!

We then had a snack and went around the Sanctuary in our group.  We saw a water buffalo, emus, dingoes, turtles, lots of birds, snakes, crocodiles, kangaroos and koalas.

After that we went back to school and had second break.  It was fun to go to Billabong.  Thank you to the parents who could come and help supervise us!
