Weir State School Mascot

1/03/2013

Last year Weir State School had an idea to introduce a mascot into our school as part of our School Spirit initiative.  A competition was run throughout the school for the classes to come up with what kind of mascot would best represent Weir State School.  The most popular choice was a possum as we have several that live in the rafters at our school.

The next step was to name our mascot, so another competition was run.  We had a huge amount of interesting names submitted and the name that stuck was Poss.  With that the adventures of Poss has begun.

Poss loves to visit classrooms with super students.  He has even been a star in the Townsville Bulletin.  One of our teacher's mums has made a number of fantastic outfits that Poss loves to wear when he is out and about.

Poss is loved by all the kids expecially the little ones who think he is just super cool.  Poss gives hugs and high 'threes' to those who are following our School's Code of Conduct of Respect, Safe and Responsible.

So stay tuned to our website for lots of stories of Poss and his adventures at Weir State School.
